How to Choose an Engagement Session Location

I have three things you should consider before you choose an engagement session location. When you put all these tips together you will be able to narrow down the list to a location that will be unique to your relationship and help bring your personalities into the session. Remember the session is about your relationship not the scenery.

It is best to choose a place that you like to go to together. If you can include something personal then the photos will have more meaning and become a lasting heirloom.

Shady Areas

When choosing a location I look for large shady areas for two reasons. The first reason is to help keep everyone cool on a hot day. The second reason is that it stops you from squinting in the photos.

Landscaping and Architechture

Look for dynamic areas that make good backgrounds.
You will be the focus of the image, but the textures, colors, and depth of the background can add something special to the photo.
